Job summary

ecruit is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer specializing in Power Distribution & Switchgear in Elgin, IL. You will lead LV/MV design across panels, switchgear, protection, and e-house solutions, translating client requirements into buildable designs.

You will collaborate with manufacturing, mentor junior engineers, and ensure safe and compliant designs while coordinating with project managers and sales. This is a full-time, on-site role on the factory floor.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of power distribution design experience.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• A practical problem solver who sweats the details.
• Able to explain complex ideas clearly to non-engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead custom LV and MV design work from concept to manufacturing.
• Develop protection and control schemes and select equipment.
• Carry out short-circuit, coordination and arc-flash calculations.
• Work with factory to refine designs and solve build issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with project managers and sales.
• Ensure designs are safe, reliable and compliant with standards.
