Job summary

ecruit is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer specializing in Power Distribution & Switchgear in Elgin, IL. You will lead LV/MV design across panels, switchgear, protection, and e-house solutions, translating client requirements into buildable designs.

You will collaborate with manufacturing, mentor junior engineers, and ensure safe and compliant designs while coordinating with project managers and sales. This is a full-time, on-site role on the factory floor.

Senior Electrical Design Engineer - Power Distribution & Switchgear | Competitive Salary | Elgin, IL

Do you have seven or more years of electrical design experience with LV and MV power distribution? Would you enjoy leading custom switchgear projects from concept through to manufacture?

The role

As our Senior Electrical Design Engineer - Power Distribution & Switchgear, you will lead custom LV and MV design. You will cover panelboards, LV switchboards, LV switchgear, MV switchgear, protection and control systems and integrated e-house solutions.

You will turn client requirements into clear, buildable designs. You will work closely with manufacturing so good ideas become reliable equipment. This Senior Electrical Design Engineer - Power Distribution & Switchgear position reports to the Engineering Manager and is full-time.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead custom LV and MV design work from concept to manufacturing.
• Develop protection and control schemes and select equipment.
• Carry out short-circuit, coordination and arc-flash calculations.
• Work with the factory floor to solve build issues and refine designs.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with project managers and sales.
• Keep designs safe, reliable and compliant with relevant standards.

The person
