Job summary

Tesla is seeking an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer to design power distribution and control architectures for high-volume manufacturing equipment. You will specify components, cabling, and instrumentation, ensuring compliance with NFPA 79, IEC 60204-1, UL 508A, ISO 13849-1 and safety standards.

You will lead technicians, coordinate with mechanical, software and process teams, and manage vendors to meet regulatory and Tesla standards during installation and buy-off.

Qualifications

• Exp from Oil & Gas/Petrochemical/chemical process engineering background.
• Design Power Distribution System using Eplan Electrical P8 CAD system.
• The design needs to meet NFPA79, IEC 60204-1, UL 508A Standards.
• Design Safety Interlock System including component selection using ISO 13849-1.
• Design Control System using Beckhoff, Siemens, Delta V and others PLCs with IOs and motor control.
• Familiar with power distribution troubleshooting and interlock circuits.

Responsibilities

• Participate in initial equipment conceptual development and balance specifications, process control, and cost.
• Design the system Power Distribution, control architecture and field cabling including Process instrumentation.
• Design Power Distribution System using Eplan Electrical P8 CAD system.
• Coordinate with peers across engineering disciplines to align design criteria.
• Work with project managers and electrical team to translate specs into final design.
• Organize and manage vendor deliverables to meet Tesla standards and equipment specs.
• Execute and support Tesla standards buy-off process.
• Provide training to equipment support and maintenance teams.
• Establish test plans and execute control test plans at vendor sites and Tesla facility.
