Job summary

Fulfil is hiring an Electrical Controls Engineer to design and support UL 508A compliant control panels for our automation platforms. You will own design, documentation, and validation of electrical systems ensuring safety and regulatory compliance; collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable automation.

You will work on motor control, safety circuits, and panel certification, with hands-on panel builds and customer-site deployments.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional work experience.
• Strong knowledge of UL 508A, NFPA 79 and NEC (NFPA 70).
• Experience performing SCCR calculations and protection coordination.
• Hands-on design/documentation of control panels and machine wiring.
• Experience with motor control systems.
• Familiarity with PLC hardware (SICK, Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
• Knowledge of Ethernet, Modbus, CAN protocols.
• Functional safety experience (ISO 13849 or IEC 62061).
• Proficiency in electrical CAD tools (SolidWorks Electrical).
• Strong troubleshooting skills and safety discipline.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Willingness to travel ~15%.

Responsibilities

• Design UL 508A compliant control panels and electrical systems.
• Develop schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams and BOMs.
• Perform SCCR calculations and protection coordination.
• Select components: breakers, contactors, PLCs, safety relays, power supplies.
• Design motor control, emergency stop, and safety circuits.
• Ensure NFPA 79 wiring methods and safety compliance.
• Collaborate with PLC engineers to integrate controls functions.
• Support panel builds and work with contract shops.
• Assist panel certification and labeling processes.
• Troubleshoot during bring-up, commissioning, and deployment.
• Support installation at customer sites as needed.
• Promote safe engineering practices and electrical safety standards.
