We're supporting a fast-growing engineering and technology business that is expanding its electrical controls capability. The team develops and deploys advanced low-voltage power and automation systems for high-performance, mission-critical environments.
This position is suited to an engineer who enjoys combining hands-on electrical design with controls, automation, testing, and commissioning. You'll work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and field teams to take systems from initial design through production and deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and validate low-voltage electrical and control systems in accordance with UL 508A, UL 891, NEC Article 409, and applicable industry standards.
- Develop electrical schematics, control panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and associated design documentation.
- Create accurate engineering packages including BOMs, wiring documentation, I/O lists, and technical drawings.
- Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and field teams to ensure designs can be efficiently manufactured, installed, and commissioned.
- Configure and program relays and automation hardware for power control, monitoring, and sequencing applications.
- Develop and validate interlocks, sequencing logic, protection strategies, and fail-safe functionality.
- Integrate and troubleshoot industrial communications including Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, and Ethernet/IP.
- Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, manufacturability, performance, and standardisation.
- Support system testing, troubleshooting, and on-site commissioning.
- Ensure designs and deployed systems meet required safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of experience within electrical controls, automation, electrical design, or systems integration.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related STEM discipline, with Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Hands-on experience designing automation, controls, and/or low-voltage electrical systems.
- Experience producing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of UL 508A, UL 891, NEC Article 409, or comparable industrial electrical standards.
- Experience using electrical CAD software; SolidWorks Electrical experience is advantageous but not essential.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, or Ethernet/IP.
- Practical experience testing and troubleshooting electrical, automation, or low-voltage power systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to engineering detail.
- Ability to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing, and field-based teams.
Preferred Experience
- UL 508A Panel Design Certification or experience working within a UL-listed manufacturing environment.
- Experience with switchgear, power distribution, industrial control panels, or critical power systems.
- Exposure to data centers, AI infrastructure, mission-critical facilities, or large-scale industrial automation is highly advantageous.
- Experience supporting equipment through design, manufacturing, testing, installation, and commissioning.
Compensation - Up to $180K + Bonus + Relocation
This role is not remote and will require relocation and to be On-Site everyday
