Job summary

Affirm, Inc. is seeking a senior engineer to own and evolve the EKS platform that powers our global infrastructure. You will drive cluster lifecycle, upgrades, and self-service workflows, ensuring reliability of core components and the CI/CD pipeline across thousands of workloads.

The role emphasizes policy-driven enforcement, workload safety, and building scalable automation to reduce toil and improve observability, with mentoring across Compute Platform teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software or infra engineering with platform solutions.
• 6+ years operating production Kubernetes at scale, ideally AWS EKS.
• Strong cloud-native architecture experience on AWS (EC2, VPC, IAM, EKS).
• Expert Go/Python and production-grade Kubernetes tooling experience.
• Experience enforcing platform standards with policy & automation.

Responsibilities

• Architect and evolve the EKS platform across cluster lifecycle and shared components.
• Lead provisioning, upgrades, and teardown through IaC and self-service workflows.
• Own reliability of core components and CI/CD pipelines across the fleet.
• Define and enforce workload safety standards and blast radius controls.
• Build automation to move standards from research to policy-enforced defaults.
