Job summary

Affirm, Inc. is seeking an experienced engineer to own and evolve the EKS-based Compute Platform that powers our global services. You will drive provisioning, upgrades, and safe-default policies across thousands of workloads, building self-service workflows and robust automation.

You will mentor teams, contribute to incident response, and partner with cross-functional groups to optimize cost, reliability, and performance in a remote-first environment across the US.

Qualifications

• Deep EKS and Kubernetes internals expertise with fleet-scale ops.
• Experience automating Kubernetes provisioning, upgrades and node lifecycle.
• Ability to design platform standards and enforce policy and governance.
• Proficiency in IaC and GitOps delivery pipelines.
• Strong problem solving and cross-functional leadership.

Responsibilities

• Architect and evolve EKS platform across cluster lifecycle and shared components.
• Define provisioning, upgrades, and teardown via IaC and self-service workflows.
• Own reliability of core components and CI/CD pipeline deployment.
• Enforce workload safety standards and blast radius controls.
• Move standards from research to policy-enforced defaults.
• Establish observability, audits, and risk reporting.
• Mentor engineers and participate in on-call rotations.
