Job summary

Affirm, Inc. is seeking a senior engineer to lead the Compute Platform on Kubernetes and EKS across the fleet. You will shape platform architecture, drive provisioning, upgrades, and self-service workflows, and own reliability of core components and the CI/CD pipeline.

You’ll mentor engineers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and push for policy-driven standards, cost efficiency, and observability. This remote-first role offers a strong compensation package and opportunities to scale

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software or infrastructure engineering
• 6+ years operating production Kubernetes at scale, ideally EKS on AWS
• Strong cloud-native architecture experience on AWS (EC2, VPC, IAM, EKS)
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Spacelift a plus) and GitOps-style deployment pipelines
• Expert-level Go or Python and production-grade Kubernetes tooling
• Track record designing and enforcing standards across many teams
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience

Responsibilities

• Architect and evolve the EKS platform across cluster lifecycle and shared components
• Lead provisioning, upgrades, and teardown through IaC and self-service workflows
• Own reliability of core shared components and CI/CD pipelines
• Define workload safety standards including PDBs and isolation constraints
• Automate standards adoption and policy enforcement
• Establish observability, audits, and risk reporting
• Collaborate with cluster-user teams to understand workload needs
• Drive cost and capacity strategies for node scaling
• Mentor engineers and set the bar for operational excellence
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident triage
