Job summary

Affirm, Inc. is seeking a senior platform engineer to architect and evolve the EKS infrastructure across the fleet, driving cluster lifecycle, upgrades, and self-service workflows.

You will own reliability of core components and the CI/CD pipelines that ship them, while enforcing workload safety and policy-driven standards. The role emphasizes leadership across teams, cloud-native AWS experience, and a strong focus on observability, SLOs, and data-driven risk mitigation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software or infrastructure engineering.
• 6+ years operating production Kubernetes at scale, ideally EKS on AWS.
• Strong cloud-native architecture experience on AWS (EC2, VPC, IAM, EKS).
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Spacelift a plus) and GitOps-style deployment pipelines.
• Go or Python proficiency and production-grade Kubernetes tooling experience.
• Ability to design and enforce platform standards across many teams.

Responsibilities

• Architect and evolve Affirms EKS platform, driving cluster lifecycle strategy.
• Lead provisioning, upgrades, and teardown via IaC and self-service workflows.
• Own reliability of core shared components and CI/CD pipelines.
• Define workload safety standards, resource configurations, and blast radius controls.
• Build automation to move standards from research to policy-enforced defaults.
• Establish observability and run-time auditing for risk mitigation.
