Job summary

Layton Construction seeks a Senior Safety Coordinator to support project teams in implementing environmental, safety, and health standards at the site level. The role emphasizes construction safety practices, ongoing learning, and a commitment to safe, compliant project delivery.

You will oversee safety condition monitoring, incident investigations, training, and coordination with ESH and HR to ensure adherence to policies and continuous improvement across Layton projects.

Qualifications

• BA/BS preferred with at least 3 years in construction or industrial health and safety.
• Practical knowledge and ongoing education in construction safety.
• OSHA 510 – Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry certificate.
• First Aid, CPR, and AED certification with recent completion.
• OSHA 30‑hour construction training AND STS certification.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal/written communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to perform duties accurately and safely with or without accommodation.
• Proficiency in English and safe instruction communication.
• Commitment to continuous learning and core ESH competencies.

Responsibilities

• Champions safety standards and drives predictable outcomes for teams and customers.
• Monitors safety conditions and enforces OSHA and Layton Construction policies.
• Assists ESH Manager in accident investigations and data collection.
• Oversees workers’ compensation issues and reports timely information.
• Leads site safety orientations for project teams.
• Participates in pre‑construction safety planning meetings.
• Supports injury management with cost‑effective medical care.
• Conducts industrial hygiene surveys and respirator fit testing as needed.
• Provides safety training at the site level to employees and subcontractors.
• Supports VP‑Field Operations and HR on FMLA, ADA, WC compliance.
• Participates in monthly Safety Committee meetings and other duties as assigned.
