Job summary

Turner Construction Co. seeks an accomplished Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) leader to direct policies on a large-scale project (~$1B+), guiding site teams and collaborating with senior leadership to set direction and drive a best-in-class safety culture.

The role requires expert knowledge of safety and environmental regulations, incident management, and the ability to mentor teams, recruit, and allocate resources to sustain safe, compliant operations across all project activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, or related field plus extensive construction safety experience.
• CHST certification required or within six months of appointment.
• OSHA 30-hour training completed; current First Aid/CPR/BBP/AED certification.
• Expert knowledge of safety and environmental principles and regulations.
• Extensive incident management experience.
• Cross-functional knowledge of construction operations.
• Ability to assess processes and lead corrective actions.
• Management experience including budgeting and delegation.
• Mentor and develop teams; drive continuous safety improvement.

Responsibilities

• Influence and motivate teams as visible leader on construction project site while modeling Turner’s EH&S policies and processes.
• Oversee EH&S on construction site and foster partnerships to influence safety planning and decision-making.
• Engage front-line workers to create a learning environment and coach EH&S competencies.
• Collaborate with project team, client, trade partners, and JV partners to establish structure, processes, and staffing.
• Set and enforce EH&S standards aligned with policies and client priorities.
• Serve as primary liaison with owner for EH&S matters.
• Develop project-specific EH&S plan with KPIs; monitor progress and drive PDCA cycles.
• Participate in EH&S recruiting, onboarding, and career development.
• Identify and mitigate hazardous conditions; implement corrective actions.
• Authorize work order changes and resource reallocations for safety.
• Deliver workforce training across project levels.
• Contribute to project EH&S budget.
• Other duties as assigned.
