Job summary

Sharps Medical Waste Services is seeking a Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist to lead safety and regulatory compliance across a growing multi-site network in the United States. You will partner with Operations, Fleet, HR, and site leadership to strengthen workplace safety and environmental stewardship.

You will own complex safety audits, lead incident investigations, design training curricula, monitor compliance, and drive continuous improvement while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 5–7+ years EH&S experience across multiple sites.
• Experience leading safety inspections, compliance audits, and incident investigations.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT regulations and waste programs.
• CSP/ASP/OSHA 30 preferred; CSP or equivalent advanced credential a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead compliance efforts with OSHA, EPA, DOT, DEA, CDC, and state environmental regulations across multiple sites.
• Design and lead facility safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments; own risk-mitigation plans.
• Lead investigations of injuries, vehicle accidents, near misses, environmental incidents; ensure corrective actions are closed.
• Own environmental compliance programs for regulated medical waste, hazardous waste, stormwater, wastewater, air emissions, spills.
• Develop and deliver employee safety training programs (Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazard Communication, DOT Hazmat, PPE).
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual EH&S reports; maintain training records and incident documentation.
• Travel to locations to lead audits, investigations, training, inspections, and operational support.
