Jobtailor in Los Angeles seeks an editorial production lead for A Day of Unreasonable Conversation. You will own the sponsorship and guest experience, shaping formats and narrative arcs from pitch to on-stage delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full editorial lifecycle from theme development to live editorial presence and post-event wrap.
  • Develop speaker and moderator lists with senior production teams.
  • Craft editorially grounded letters and voice voices.
  • Create segment concepts, introductions, questions, flows, transitions, and narrative arcs.
  • Attend meetings to align progress and surface blockers across workstreams.
  • Design non-default formats like lightning talks, firesides, interviews, and select panels.
  • Lead editorial for guests from pitch to on-stage delivery and post-event actions.
  • Maintain trackers, speaker lists, issue lanes, milestones, and sign-offs.
  • Collaborate with fundraising and partner teams on sponsored segments while preserving editorial integrity.
  • Co-own the master script and lead pre-interviews and prep calls.
  • Lead talent prep calls and alignment touchpoints.
  • Coordinate with production on slides, reels, graphics, and multimedia.
  • Work with production leads on timelines, show flow, and rehearsals.
  • Uphold editorial standards, rights clearances, and risk processes.
  • Develop copy for websites and programs; build speaker packets.

Job description

  • Own the full editorial lifecycle for A Day of Unreasonable Conversation, from theme development and scripting through live editorial presence and post-event wrap
  • Develop speaker, moderator, and facilitator lists with senior production, executive production, and talent teams
  • Craft editorially grounded ask letters and book lived-experience and issue-expert voices
  • Develop segment concepts, introductions, questions, flows, transitions, theses, and narrative arcs
  • Attend editorial, talent, and production meetings to ideate, align progress, surface blockers, and coordinate workstreams
  • Design non-default formats including lightning talks, firesides, interviews, and select panels
  • Serve as editorial lead for guests from initial pitch through segment shaping, preparation, and on-stage delivery
  • Maintain editorial trackers, speaker lists, issue lanes, approvals, milestones, briefing-book locks, and sign-off checkpoints
  • Collaborate with fundraising and partner teams on sponsored segments while maintaining editorial integrity and budget alignment
  • Co-own the master script with the scriptwriter; create briefing books and lead pre-interviews and preparation calls
  • Lead talent and moderator prep calls and additional alignment touchpoints as needed
  • Partner with production and creative teams on slides, sizzle reels, archival clips, graphics, and other multimedia
  • Work with production leads on timelines, technical needs, show flow, and technical rehearsals
  • Uphold editorial standards, safeguards, appearance releases, rights clearances, and legal or reputational risk processes
  • Develop titles, descriptions, and attendee-facing copy for websites and programs
  • Build comprehensive speaker packets covering introductions, questions, formats, and roles
  • Provide senior editorial presence on-site, supporting talent, moderators, slides, prompter notes, flow revisions, and real-time editorial decisions
  • Lead post-event reporting on segment performance, audience response, stakeholder feedback, editorial impact, and future priorities
Requirements
  • 8-10+ years in editorial production, live events, television, summits, or festivals, with clear examples of owning programming end to end
  • Proven experience working directly with A-list and high-profile talent, including complex asks, sensitive stakeholders, and relationship-driven bookings
  • Ability to design and deliver formats beyond standard panels, including TED-style talks, fireside chats, and structured multi-voice conversations
  • Strong editorial judgment and story sense; ability to find real tension, structure conversations around it, and craft sharp, nuanced questions
  • Comfort in high-pressure event environments, juggling multiple workstreams, trackers, run-of-shows, production, logistics, vendors, timelines, and budgets
  • Sound judgment on sensitive editorial and compliance matters, including rights, releases, and reputational risk
  • Excellent stakeholder management and diplomacy
  • High degree of organization and systems thinking
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working in intensive pre-event periods
  • Must be able to be on-site in Los Angeles for April 4th, 5th, and 6th, 2026
  • Temporary project-based position starting mid-September through April 2026
