Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced Booking Producer to lead live interview bookings for daily shows in Washington, DC. You will manage guest outreach, pre-interviews, and coordinate live or taped segments, maintaining strong relationships with newsmakers and publicists.

You will react quickly to breaking news, research story angles, mentor junior staff, and travel as needed. A journalism degree or equivalent experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• At least seven years as a booking producer or equivalent experience.
• A bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field is preferred.
• Equivalent experience will be considered.
• Proven performance booking guests with an established contact list.
• Ability to multi-task, execute quickly and remain calm.
• Knowledge of current events, key players and issues in global affairs.
• Exceptional organizational, writing and communication skills.
• Ability to travel as needed.
• Language skills are a plus.
• Knowledge of Congress and the federal government.
• Established relationships with communications directors and press secretaries.

Responsibilities

• Book guests for live, daily interviews and coordinate bookings.
• Identify, cultivate and maintain relationships with newsmakers, experts, and sources.
• Coordinate guest bookings and calls outside regular office hours.
• React quickly in breaking news to book government officials, lawmakers, reporters and experts.
• Use social media to find people involved in breaking news situations.
• Pre-interview guests and analysts; coordinate live and taped interviews.
• Research and pitch newsworthy stories; manage long-term booking opportunities.
• Mentor and support junior staff; may manage other editorial producers.
• Attend company events and travel for breaking news bookings as required.

• Book guests and panelists and request major, newsmaker interviews
• Serve as the show's chief booking representative
• Book guests for live, daily interviews
• Identify, establish, cultivate and maintain relationships with newsmakers, experts, analysts, publicists and sources
• Coordinate guest bookings and make calls outside regular office hours
• React quickly in breaking news situations to identify and book government officials, lawmakers, reporters and experts
• Use social media to find people involved in breaking news situations
• Serve as an ambassador for the anchor and senior producers
• Maintain constant contact with senior producers about guest booking status
• Conduct pre-interviews with guests and analysts
• Coordinate live and taped on-camera interviews and shoots
• Research and pitch newsworthy stories
• Manage long-term booking opportunities
• Mentor and serve as a resource to junior staff
• May manage other editorial producers
• Attend company events
• Perform other related duties as assigned
• Travel for breaking news bookings as required
