Job summary

Springer Nature seeks an Associate/Senior Editor for BMC Nephrology and BMC Endocrine Disorders in a hybrid New York or London role. The editor will drive content development, manage editorial handling of manuscripts, and build productive relationships with the Editorial Board, reviewers, and authors to deliver high-quality, impactful open access research.

Qualifications

• Educated to PhD or MD level (or equivalent) in nephrology, endocrinology or a related discipline.
• Previous substantial editorial experience in scientific publishing is required for consideration at the Senior Editor level.
• Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate scientific content and assess manuscripts for scientific rigor, novelty, relevance, and impact.

Responsibilities

• Develop a journal development strategy for BMC Nephrology and BMC Endocrine Disorders, using data-driven planning that supports journal objectives.
• Collaborate with Journals Group to support publishing strategies and initiatives.
• Identify, commission, and develop reviews, collections, and supplements while building relationships with the scientific community.
• Oversee editorial handling of manuscripts, applying rigorous evaluation to publish high-quality content.
• Make sound editorial decisions and guide Editorial Board Members while maintaining standards.
• Work with internal teams to resolve editorial issues and ensure author satisfaction.
