Job summary

The New Mexico State Land Office seeks a Senior Economic Development Representative to advance development on state trust lands within the Commercial Resources Division. You will review leases, evaluate development proposals, and support land-use planning, working closely with multiple internal divisions and external partners.

Ideal candidates bring knowledge of urban planning, property leasing, and program management, plus the ability to navigate regulations and complex development projects.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of urban land use and site development regulations.
  • Experience in acquisition, leasing, management, and disposal of real property.
  • Knowledge of economic and community development methods and programs.
  • Understanding of land appraisals and land surveying principles.
  • Ability to read land surveys, property descriptions, and land titles.
  • Strong project or program management skills and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Review and process a variety of business lease applications including planning and development leases, local government leases, long-term leases, land exchanges and use restrictions.
  • Review and evaluate development proposals including site and zoning changes for compliance with lease terms and codes.
  • Maintain a comprehensive portfolio of real estate with development potential; administer policies to complete disposition of property.
  • Assist in understanding land use planning rules and regulations; engage with public and private sectors to promote site development on state trust lands.
