Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Senior ECM/ECU Hardware Design Engineer in Mossville, IL to design, test, and validate electronic control modules for gensets, BMS, and inverter/motor controls.

You will mentor engineers and collaborate with software, battery, system, and machine teams to ensure robust platform integration. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required; advanced degree preferred.
• Experience with ECM/ECU design, analog/digital circuitry, and layout reviews.
• Familiarity with NPI, APQP, CPPD, FMEAs, and reliability budgeting.
• Knowledge of environmental validation and EMC testing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing compliance with functional & environmental requirements for ECM/ECUs for genset, BMS and inverter/motor control.
• Development of product requirements, analysis and simulation, component selection, schematic/layout development and verification.
• Collaboration with software, battery, system and machine teams for platform integration.
• Managing and negotiating with ECM/ECU vendors for development of systems and components.
• Investigating and troubleshooting all technical issues related to ECM/ECUs during development and production.
• Mentoring technicians and engineers in development of electrical/electronic systems.
