Job summary

The Cincinnati Insurance Companies in Minnesota has an opening for an experienced excess and surplus lines underwriter. You will work with producers and an underwriting assistant to underwrite and price new and renewal E&S business, determine risk acceptability, pricing and terms, and maintain strong carrier relationships.

Qualified candidates have a bachelor’s degree, 5+ years of commercial P&C underwriting, and may hold ASLI or CPCU.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or extensive relevant excess and surplus lines underwriting experience.
• 5+ years of experience in commercial lines P&C.
• ASLI or CPCU designations preferred.
• Carrier, broker, or MGA background preferred.
• Training provided in Cincinnati, OH prior to deployment to regional territory.

Responsibilities

• Work in partnership with producers and an underwriting assistant to solicit, underwrite and price new and renewal surplus lines commercial property and casualty business.
• Determine individual risk acceptability, pricing, coverage, terms and conditions.
• Develop, analyze and evaluate information and exposures for complex risks.
• Achieve production and loss ratio goals within assigned regional territory.
• Travel within assigned territory which may include some overnight stays.
