Job summary

American Airlines is seeking a Principal, Drug and Alcohol Compliance at the DFW headquarters. You will translate regulations into scalable controls, lead random testing analyses, and ensure data integrity across hiring, transfers, and audits.

You will collaborate with People, Operations, Legal, Safety, and data teams to strengthen compliance and operational efficiency while guiding complex cross-functional projects and regulatory inspections.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, compliance, safety, HR, or related field
• 5+ years in DOT drug/alcohol/compliance or similar high-risk environment
• Knowledge of DOT/FAA/FMCSA requirements (49 CFR Part 40, etc.)
• Experience managing complex compliance programs with high accuracy
• Experience with HRIS, compliance systems, or testing program tools

Responsibilities

• Translate regulations into operational controls and scalable compliance processes.
• Lead analysis of DOT random testing pools, ensuring population management and testing rate adherence.
• Oversee 49 CFR 40.25 verification processes for regulated hires and data quality.
• Manage contractor performance and enforce corrective actions.
• Conduct continuous auditing and data-quality monitoring across hiring, transfers, and job changes.
