Job summary

Skydio, the leading US drone company, seeks a Senior Manufacturing Design Engineer to bridge product development and high-volume production. You will develop manufacturing processes, tooling, and readiness criteria for new drone products, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective production.

You will work with Design, Quality, Supply Chain, and Test teams to transition prototypes to mass production. The role emphasizes process development, mfg plans, and optimization to sustain high-volume

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical engineering field.
• 3+ years in manufacturing engineering, process development, or production engineering.
• Experience transitioning complex electromechanical products to production.
• Knowledge of design-for-manufacturing, tooling, and manufacturing documentation.
• Experience with structured problem solving and root-cause analysis.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, BOMs, and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Lead manufacturing activities for new drone products from prototype to production.
• Develop manufacturing plans, layouts, tooling, and readiness criteria.
• Provide design-for-manufacturing feedback during reviews.
• Coordinate validation builds and mitigate production risks.
• Establish production-readiness and support readiness reviews.
• Develop and validate processes for assembly, electronics integration, bonding, and testing.
• Create process documents, control plans, and BOMs.
