Job summary

Skydio, the leading US drone company, is seeking a mechanical design engineer to develop and refine structures for autonomous flight. You will design parts and assemblies, collaborate with electrical teams to integrate PCBAs and cables, and work with vendors to drive products from prototype to mass production.

You will apply strong CAD skills, attention to detail, and manufacturing knowledge to deliver elegant, robust mechanical solutions for a range of aircraft and accessories.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 3-8 years product development with execution.
• Analytical problem solving for electromechanical systems.
• Experience with injection molding, metal casting, and CNC machining.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical parts and assemblies for aircraft, ground stations, and accessories from ground-up as part of new architectures.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers to shape and integrate PCBAs, flex circuits, antennas, and cable harnesses.
• Interface with vendors in partnership with operations and supply chain teams.
• Define and execute engineering tests and use analysis to evaluate trade-offs and prove designs.
• Drive designs from prototyping to pre-production and mass production; support manufacturing with assembly processes and inspection criteria.
• Debug and investigate failures with attention to detail to find root causes.
