Job summary

General Motors Global Production System (GPS) Manufacturing Engineering in Warren, MI is seeking a Process Engineer to lead the development, sourcing, build, and launch of assembly processes for transmission and drive unit assembly. You will work with cross-functional teams at GM’s Global Technical Center, driving prototype builds, launches, and continuous improvement across GM sites.

The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree, plant-floor experience, and strong project leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience in manufacturing on the plant floor and design for manufacturability.
• Proven ability to deliver mechanical/manufacturing engineering assignments through individual or team effort.

Responsibilities

• Analyze product and machinery designs and apply design-for-manufacturability to establish best methods.
• Define, propose, and evaluate process concepts and equipment for transmission and drive unit assembly areas.
• Lead design, construction, installation, qualification, and launch of assembly equipment and tooling with continuous improvement.
• Manage large assembly-equipment projects, including scope, timing, and budget adherence.
• Provide technical direction to external equipment suppliers through implementation.
• Support prototype builds and collaborate with product engineering to refine designs and processes.
• Implement production processes and contribute to a safe, inclusive work environment.
