Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Transmission and Drive Unit Engineering Designer to lead the design and integration of complex transmission components from concept through validation and launch. This role requires balancing performance, safety, cost, mass, and manufacturability while coordinating with engineering, manufacturing, safety, CAE, and suppliers.

The ideal candidate will develop advanced NX models, manage product structures with Teamcenter, and drive robust design decisions across

Qualifications

• Significant automotive design experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Advanced Siemens NX experience including complex modeling and clearance analysis.
• Proficiency with Teamcenter, TcC, Active Workspace, TcVis, and product-structure management.
• Experience creating engineering drawings and PMI using GD&T and tolerancing.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and integration of complex transmission and drive unit components and interfaces.
• Translate requirements into robust, manufacturable designs.
• Perform design trade-offs on performance, cost, mass, timing, and manufacturability.
• Develop NX models and create NX assemblies with clearance and packaging studies.
• Create and release 2D drawings and PMI with GD&T and interfaces.
• Lead cross-functional discussions and present design recommendations.
• Mentor junior designers and contribute to standard work and templates.
