Job summary

Metric Geo, a well-established, employee-owned engineering and environmental consultancy in Tampa, Florida, seeks a Professional Engineer / Project Manager to join its Water team. Lead municipal drinking water projects from planning through construction, coordinating with clients, technical teams, and regulators.

The role offers a flexible remote/hybrid arrangement with 2-3 days in the office and ~20% regional travel.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of consulting engineering experience, preferably within municipal drinking water.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Active Florida PE license, or the ability to obtain one through reciprocity.
• Strong understanding of municipal drinking water systems, including treatment, distribution, planning, and design.
• Proven project management experience across multiple projects and multidisciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with state and federal regulations, permitting, bidding requirements, and infrastructure funding programs.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead municipal drinking water projects from planning and design through construction.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams, subconsultants, contractors, and project partners.
• Develop project scopes, technical approaches, schedules, budgets, and delivery strategies.
• Monitor project performance, milestones, costs, and deliverables.
• Serve as a key point of contact for municipal clients and develop long-term relationships.
• Coordinate with contractors, clients, and field personnel during construction.
• Perform and coordinate technical QA/QC reviews.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies and permitting authorities.
• Support proposals, fee development, scopes of work, and business development initiatives.
• Assist with resource planning and project staffing.
• Contribute to technical standards, design guidance, training, and knowledge sharing.
