Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Network Engineer to support MQ-9 communications and defense networks. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, high-availability network systems across LAN/WAN/VPN and inter-site connections.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in DoD or IC environments, extensive routing knowledge (OSPF/BGP/EIGRP), GRE tunneling experience, and relevant certifications. Security clearances and cross-domain collaboration are essential to success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in network engineering—preferably supporting federal, DoD, or Intelligence Community environments.
• Extensive knowledge of network layers (OSI and TCP/IP models) and their interdependencies.
• Proven experience with advanced routing protocols and multicast routing (PIM, IGMP, MSDP).
• Proficiency with GRE tunneling for secure data transport across segmented networks.
• Experience with enterprise hardware and network management/monitoring tools.
• Professional certifications such as CCNP/CCIE strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Architect, implement, and maintain complex network systems including LAN, WAN, VPN, and secure cloud interconnections.
• Analyze and troubleshoot networks across OSI layers to maximize performance, reliability, and security.
• Configure and manage routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP) and multicast routing.
• Design and maintain GRE tunneling for secure inter-site communication.
• Apply security practices to comply with classified information systems requirements and federal mandates.
• Document designs, configurations, and procedures per policies.
• Collaborate with security, systems engineering, and operations teams for robust solutions.
