Job summary

Columbia Tech is seeking a Documentation Control Specialist to manage changes to drawings, BOMs, wire run lists, and work instructions within a manufacturing environment.

You will maintain PLM/ERP/MES data, release controlled documents, and provide guidance to junior staff while collaborating with production and engineering teams nationwide. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in documentation control and data management roles.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Proficient typing skills.
  • Experience with document management structures/systems including ERP/EPDM; Omnify, Epicor 10, Aegis FactoryLogix, SolidWorks EPDM a strong plus.
  • Detail oriented and fast learner.
  • Willing to work with production to develop work instructions.
  • Willing to travel as needed.
  • Engineering industry experience preferred.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Associate’s degree or 5+ years’ experience minimum.

Responsibilities

  • Support changes and releases of documentation for Manufacturing Engineers including drawings, bills of material, wire run lists, and work instructions.
  • Examine documents to verify completeness and accuracy of data within the change order process.
  • Confer with document originators and other personnel to resolve discrepancies and compile changes to documents.
  • Recommend improvements to company processes and documentation.
  • Maintain and enter data into PLM, ERP, MES, and other systems.
  • Post document changes to controlled records and notify affected parties of approvals.
  • Compile, maintain, and archive control records to release drawings and other documents to production.
  • Develop work instructions for production processes.
  • Support collaborative build processes on-site or at customer sites.
  • Remove obsolete printed work instructions and replace with updated revisions.
  • Provide hard and soft copies of production documentation upon request.
  • Support and implement processes to provide system reports and company metrics.
  • Create memos, meeting minutes, and other documents as requested.
  • Provide supervision to junior associates as required.
  • Perform other Manufacturing Engineering duties as required.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Support changes and releases of documentation for Manufacturing Engineers including drawings, bills of material, wire run lists, and work instructions.

  • Maintain and enter data into the company Product Lifecycle Manager (PLM), Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP), Manufacturing Execution System (MES), and other systems.
  • Post document changes to controlled records, release documents via change order process, and notify affected individuals and departments of change approvals.
  • Compile, maintain, and archive control records and related files to release drawings and other engineering documents to production and other operating departments as requested.
  • Develop work instructions for production processes.
  • Support collaborative build processes, on-site or at customer site.
  • Remove obsolete printed work instructions and replace with most recent active revisions.
  • Prepare and provide hard and soft copies of production documentation upon request.
  • Support and implement processes and tools to provide system reports and company metrics.

  • Perform other Manufacturing Engineering department duties as required.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years’ experience in documentation control and data management roles.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

  • Intermediate proficiency in configuration and use of document management structures/systems, including ERP and Enterprise Product Data Management (EPDM) systems. Experience with Omnify, Epicor 10, Aegis FactoryLogix, and SolidWorks EPDM a strong plus.
  • Must be extremely detail oriented and a fast learner.
  • Must be willing to work with production to develop work instructions.
  • Must be willing to travel as needed.
  • Experience in the engineering industry preferred.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Associate’s degree or 5+ years’ experience minimum.
Working Environment
  • Generally works in an office environment, but may occasionally be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting.
  • Occasional travel required.
Physical Requirements
  • Interaction with people and technology while either standing or sitting.
  • Must be able to communicate face‑to‑face and on the phone.

Salary Range: $29-36 per hour (Salary commensurate with experience)
