Job summary

WSP Global Inc. is seeking a Senior Professional Electrical Engineer with an emphasis on distribution protection for our Richmond, VA office.

Additional locations considered include Fort Mill, SC and Atlanta, GA. You will lead the development and review of protection philosophies, relay settings, and grid modernization applications for utility distribution systems, collaborating with clients, project teams, and equipment vendors to deliver practical, safe, and reliable recommendations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• 7-10 years of post-education experience as an electrical engineer.
• Strong English communication skills (written and spoken).
• Ability to collaborate across teams and take initiative.
• Proven commitment to workplace safety and standards compliance.
• Able to pass client background screening.

Responsibilities

• Lead protection design for distribution systems, including relay settings and device coordination.
• Develop, review, and implement protection philosophies and technical recommendations.
• Coordinate with utility clients, vendors, and internal teams to gather information and support projects.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project teams.
• Support grid modernization initiatives and DER interconnections.
• Travel as required for project execution and client meetings.
• Uphold WSP’s Code of Conduct and safety policies.
