Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Senior Professional Electrical Engineer with an emphasis on Distribution Protection for our Richmond, VA office, with consideration for Fort Mill, SC and Atlanta, GA. You will lead development and review of protection solutions for utility distribution systems, including relay settings, DER interconnections, and grid modernization.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate across disciplines, and support business development efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
• 7–10 years of post-education electrical engineering experience.
• Ability to lead across teams and communicate effectively.
• Proven safety record and ability to pass background screening.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and review of protection solutions for distribution systems.
• Set relay settings, device coordination, DER interconnections, and arc flash support.
• Perform event analysis and root cause analysis for protection issues.
• Collaborate with utility clients, vendors, and internal teams on projects.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Support business development and industry standards activities.
