Job summary

WSP is seeking a Distribution Project Manager for its Power & Energy Program Management Team in Fort Worth and the Dallas, TX Metroplex area, with hybrid work requiring three days in-office weekly. Travel to client offices may be necessary for meetings; you will lead medium to large distribution projects, ensuring schedule, budget, risk, and quality stay on track.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience may be considered.
  • 10+ years of relevant post-education experience with significant project management responsibility in Power Delivery/Transmission/substation/utility infra.
  • Experience managing medium to large, complex transmission line and/or substation projects for electric utility clients.
  • Proven ability to lead multiple concurrent projects with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, risk, client satisfaction, and delivery performance.
  • Advanced understanding of utility project delivery including engineering, procurement, permitting, environmental coordination, construction readiness, outage coordination, commissioning, closeout, and client reporting.
  • Strong working knowledge of project controls practices: CPM schedule management, cost forecasting, earned value, change management, risk management, invoicing, and financial performance.
  • Experience developing and maintaining project governance tools and documentation (execution plans, risk registers, logs, change logs, QA/QC, audit-ready files).
  • Ability to manage client relationships at senior project level and communicate with client leadership to support objectives.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams (engineering, controls, procurement, construction, environmental, permitting, vendors, contractors, clients).
  • Ability to coach and mentor project managers and teams while enforcing accountability and best practices.
  • Advanced analytical, organizational, problem-solving skills; ability to assess performance, risks, alternatives, and viable solutions.
  • Strong business acumen to manage project financials, protect margin, and evaluate commercial impacts.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement program delivery plans aligned with goals and client expectations.
  • Be the primary accountability for project delivery, identify issues, drive decisions, and escalate risks.
  • Lead client engagement and relationship development with proactive communication and issue resolution.
  • Direct multidisciplinary teams across engineering, controls, procurement, construction, environmental, and stakeholders.
  • Develop and enforce governance frameworks, delivery standards, and escalation procedures.
  • Manage integration of scope, schedule, budget, risk, and quality across the program.
  • Analyze performance metrics and conduct root cause analyses for delays or overruns.
  • Support senior-level client engagement with strategic input and coordination.
  • Coordinate interdependencies between multiple projects for coherent delivery.
  • Develop risk and opportunity management frameworks across all program phases.
  • Contribute to contract negotiations, change orders, and claims mitigation.
  • Mentor project managers and teams to reinforce accountability and consistency.
  • Foster interdisciplinary collaboration and drive process improvements in tools.
