Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Power Delivery Project Manager to oversee distribution resiliency projects in the region with remote or hybrid work options. Travel to WSP or client offices is required for periodic meetings; you will supervise technical, administrative, and commercial aspects of electric utility projects, aligning with WSP’s values and commitments.

Qualifications

  • Degree in electrical or civil engineering or a related field.
  • 7–10+ years of post-education experience in Power Delivery/Utility industry or related design experience.
  • Experience with EPC project delivery and capital programs in the energy sector.
  • Knowledge of NERC, IEEE, NEC standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills in complex utility environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management with utilities, clients, regulators, and internal teams.
  • Experience with project management tools and financial tracking/reporting systems.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, and construction.
  • Knowledge of QA/QC processes, risk management, and safety compliance in utility projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional teams delivering power distribution, substation, and utility engineering projects, ensuring design and construction deliverables.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects involving distribution lines, feeders, substations, and grid upgrades, including budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
  • Develop and manage scopes, cost estimates, schedules, and resource plans for capital programs and transmission & distribution projects.
  • Build and maintain Work Breakdown Structures aligned with EPC project delivery models.
  • Ensure compliance with utility standards, environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and safety protocols.
  • Participate in proposal development, RFP responses, and business development efforts in power & energy.
  • Perform margin analysis, risk assessments, and contingency planning for large-scale power delivery projects.
  • Coordinate contract negotiations, client presentations, and stakeholder meetings with utilities and regulators.
  • Develop and maintain project plans including PMP, Safety Plans, Risk Management Plans, and QA/QC procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams specializing in distribution design, protection & controls, relay systems, and grid automation.
  • Partner with Project Accounting to manage financials including forecasting, earned value management, and profitability tracking.
  • Lead change management, scope control, and claims mitigation.
  • Coordinate staffing for overhead and underground distribution projects and renewable interconnections.
  • Ensure adherence to HSE standards and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Provide reporting on project performance, risks, schedule, and budget to clients and leadership.
  • Manage project closeout and lessons learned for future projects.
  • Stay current on power industry trends and electrification initiatives.
  • Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
