Job summary

Westwood Professional Services seeks a Senior Distribution Engineer to deliver cost-effective design and upgrades for overhead and underground distribution systems. You will mentor engineers, ensure compliance with NESC, ASCE, and IEEE standards, and collaborate with cross-functional teams across project lifecycles.

You will design line projects, perform load analysis, prepare BOMs, and support construction with technical guidance, DOT permitting, and ROW requests while traveling to project

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of relevant experience as a Power Distribution Line Engineer in consulting or utility environment.
• ABET-accredited engineering program bachelor’s degree required.
• 4-10 years with a master’s degree acceptable.
• Active EIT strongly preferred; P.E. license beneficial.
• Experience with NESC, ASCE and IEEE standards.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Project).

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Engineer in managing large-scale engineering projects from inception to completion.
• Oversee project timelines to ensure successful delivery.
• Design and implement innovative engineering solutions for complex designs.
• Provide peer reviews on engineering/design drawings.
• Mentor mid-level engineers and conduct training to enhance team skills.
• Identify and resolve complex engineering challenges.
• Ensure compliance with safety/design standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align engineering with business objectives.
• Communicate project status, risks, and insights to stakeholders at all levels.
• Travel to project sites as needed to gather data and interface with clients.
