Job summary

Tri-County Electric Cooperative, Inc. is seeking a Senior Distribution Engineer to improve safety, reliability, capacity, and operability of the distribution system.

You will provide system operations with accurate engineering information and practical recommendations for normal, abnormal, and emergency conditions. You will own distribution models, coordinate with Operations, GIS, and field staff, perform load flow and protection studies, and develop actionable operating guidance while

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred; other engineering fields considered with relevant experience.
• Experience in electric distribution system modeling, analysis, and planning.
• PE license preferred; willingness to pursue credentials.
• Strong judgment, ownership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with Milsoft or comparable distribution modeling software and data tools.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain distribution models; verify critical field and GIS data.
• Develop feeder-by-feeder backfeed options with constraints and capacity awareness.
• Provide timely engineering support during outages with recommended paths forward.
• Perform load flow, voltage, fault-current, and protection studies; set recommendations.
• Identify overloaded equipment using AMI/SCADA/GIS data; correct bad data.
• Collaborate with Operations to reflect actual field conditions and practices.
• Create repeatable standards, maps, tables, and decision tools for operations.
• Question assumptions, escalate issues, and communicate timelines for answers.
• Model TCEC Essential Attributes and support ongoing learning.
