Job summary

Tri-County Electric Cooperative is seeking a Senior Distribution Engineer to enhance the safety, reliability, and operability of its distribution system. You will own distribution models, run studies, and provide practical recommendations during normal, abnormal, and emergency conditions.

The role requires strong engineering judgment, field experience, and proficiency with Milsoft, SCADA, AMI, Excel, and GIS data. PE license preferred; Texas residency required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred; other engineering degrees evaluated with relevant distribution experience.
• Professional Engineer license preferred; ability to pursue credentials.
• Experience in electric distribution system modeling, load flow, contingency/backfeed analysis, voltage/loading evaluation, and practical recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain distribution system models and GIS data; validate inputs and core data.
• Develop feeder-by-feeder backfeed options with seasonal/load constraints and limits.
• Provide engineering support during outages with options and risk discussions.
• Perform load flow, voltage, fault-current, and protection studies; set device settings for safe, reliable operation.
• Identify overloaded or at-risk equipment using AMI/SCADA/GIS data and correct data issues.
• Collaborate with Operations to reflect field conditions and practices in models and plans.
• Create repeatable standards, tables, maps, and tools for quick engineering answers.
• Assess and communicate risks, timelines, and path forward when answers are not known.
• Model the Essential Attributes and pursue continuous learning within the department.
