Job summary

Municipality of Anchorage is seeking an executive leader for the Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility. The role directs water production, treatment, and distribution facilities, wastewater treatment, laboratory services, and pretreatment programs.

Responsibilities include staffing oversight, policy development, and ensuring the division meets its goals within budgetary and regulatory constraints. A strong background in engineering or related fields is required, with progressive leadership

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and twelve (12) years of experience in engineering, contract administration, accounting, program administration, utility management, managing projects or information systems with two (2) years in a supervisory or lead capacity.
• Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Management, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Legal Studies, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Project Management or related discipline and ten (10) years of related experience with two (2) years in a supervisory or lead capacity.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Management, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Legal Studies, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Project Management or related discipline and eight (8) years of related experience with two (2) years in a supervisory or lead capacity.
• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Management, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Legal Studies, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Project Management or related discipline and six (6) years of related experience with two (2) years in a supervisory or lead capacity.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Treatment Division’s water production, treatment and distribution facilities, wastewater treatment facilities, laboratory services and industrial pretreatment program.
• Manage recruitment, selection and disciplinary actions of division staff.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures, goals and objectives for the Division programs and projects.
• Ensure division attainment of utility goals within fiscal and resource limits; prepare and monitor budgets.
