Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• 9+ years of experience leading and supervising staff
• Demonstrated management and leadership skills
• Thorough knowledge of property/casualty underwriting procedures and policies
• Ability to lead, plan and work with others
• Extensive knowledge of NCCI, ISO, and State regulations relating to insurance
• Strong underwriting best practices understanding and application
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong organizational, analytical, and interpretive skills
• Ability to travel and work outside normal business hours

Responsibilities

• Accountable for achieving core operating income, real growth objectives and maintaining quality of business.
• Mentor to the team of underwriters and guide professional development.
• Ensure team adherence to risk acceptability guidelines.
• Manage selection/denial of new/renewal business including pricing and profitability targets.
• Monitor underwriting decisions via audits and training.
• Develop producer relations and manage book of business with action plans.
• Oversee all stages of underwriting execution.
• Create and distribute monthly management reports.
• Travel to agency visits or industry meetings as needed.
• Stay current with market trends and demands.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
