Job summary

AmTrust Financial Services in New York seeks a Senior Underwriter to manage underwriting and servicing for agents and producers within the territory, ensuring compliance with underwriting, authority, and pricing standards.

The role requires travel up to 25%, strong analytical skills in commercial casualty, property, auto, workers' compensation and umbrella coverage, plus ability to interpret data and support staff in processing coverage requests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• CPCU or CIC designation preferred, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time within the assigned territory and to the Home Office as required.
• Demonstrated experience with commercial casualty, property, automobile, workers compensation and umbrella insurance coverage and risk selection, methods and pricing.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and analyze data and make an informed, calculated risk decision.

Responsibilities

• Write and retain a profitable book of business through solid risk analysis, pricing and servicing.
• Maintain compliance with state filings and corporate underwriting and pricing guidelines.
• Operate within written authority grant and refer to Home Office Underwriting as required.
• Collaborate with territory team and keep peers informed of issues and activity.
• Develop and implement territory business plan and share accountability for goal achievement.
• Train territory staff and clients on underwriting appetite and protocols.
• Act as referral point for territory underwriting staff within Home Office authority.
• Coach and develop outside client relationships and travel to meet agents and producers.
• Provide timely communication and service to external clients and cross-department staff.
• Support processing of coverage requests and update databases.
• Collaborate on reports and gather competitive market information.
