Job summary

California Water Service Group is seeking a Director of Compensation & Benefits/Total Rewards to lead the HR total rewards strategy from San Jose, CA. You will oversee programs across health, retirement, leaves, and related plans, ensuring alignment with business goals and cost effectiveness.

The role partners with C-suite and CHRO to provide data-driven insights, benchmark compensation, and support union negotiations and executive disclosures.

Qualifications

• Significant leadership experience overseeing compensation/benefits in a medium to large organization.
• Progressive management experience; prior HR Manager or Business Partner role preferred.
• Ability to design total rewards programs based on market data and strategy.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Develops and communicates comprehensive benefits and compensation programs.
• Oversees salary structures, merit/incentive plans, and budget analyses.
• Leads staff development and ensures high-quality HR support.
• Analyzes market data and conducts salary surveys for competitiveness.
• Supports union negotiations and executive compensation materials.
