Job summary

Willdan is seeking a Senior Director, Benefits and Total Rewards to lead the organization’s reward strategy across the U.S. and Canada. You will shape compensation, benefits, recognition and absence management programs, guiding executives on best practices and ensuring regulatory compliance.

The role involves liaising with multiple stakeholders, managing vendor relationships, and presenting strategies that attract and retain top talent. Based in Anaheim, CA with up to 15% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in compensation and benefits, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Deep knowledge of compensation and benefits best practices, trends, and U.S. regulations; Canada knowledge a plus.
• Industry experience in consulting, engineering and energy preferred.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with HRIS and compensation analysis tools.
• Experience designing and implementing total rewards strategies and technology systems.
• Proven track record leading total rewards initiatives that support business transformation.
• Strong project management, cross-functional leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Certificates such as CCP, CBP, SPHR or SHRM-SCP preferred.
• Experience managing Canadian and international compensation and benefits programs.
• Multi-state/multi-site experience; professional services/consulting/engineering/software.
• Proficient in MS Office and HRIS/benefits systems; broad HR legal knowledge.
• Willingness to travel up to 15%.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead the Company’s comprehensive Total Rewards strategy for compensation and benefits.
• Provide strategic direction for design, communication and administration of compensation programs.
• Continuously align rewards with business strategies and monitor market trends.
• Oversee commission plans and incentive programs for employees.
• Ensure total rewards programs comply with applicable laws and policies.
• Manage vendor relationships including brokers, plan vendors and consultants.
• Create metrics and budgets for benefits and compensation programs.
• Lead due diligence and integration support for mergers and acquisitions.
