Job summary

Phaxis seeks a senior accounting professional to lead technical accounting within a complex financial services organization. You will advise senior leadership on US GAAP policy, new products, and strategic initiatives.

You will serve as SME on US GAAP, evaluate implications of M&A, derivatives, revenue recognition, and fair value. You will develop policies and support SOX and audits, partnering with Treasury, Tax, Risk, Legal, and Operations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience in financial services.
• CPA required; Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and complex standards research.
• Experience with financial instruments including derivatives, structured products, asset management, and investment vehicles.
• Big 4 experience preferred; oversees statutory financial statements and external audits.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the subject matter expert on US GAAP, researching and advising on complex technical accounting matters.
• Evaluate the accounting implications of new products, transactions, M&A activity, and strategic initiatives.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures and assess the impact of new and proposed accounting standards.
• Provide technical guidance across financial instruments, derivatives, revenue recognition, consolidation, fair value, and hedge accounting.
• Manage and develop a team of two professionals responsible for statutory reporting.
• Partner with Treasury, Tax, Risk, Legal, Operations, and business leadership on accounting matters.
• Support SOX compliance, financial reporting controls, and quarterly/annual audit activities.
