Job summary

Mount Sinai Morningside is seeking an Assistant Director of Residency Programs to lead the operational, financial, accreditation, and educational activities across a portfolio of residency and fellowship programs.

The role partners with Program Directors, department leadership, and stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance, optimal resource use, and achievement of strategic objectives within graduate medical education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; master's preferred.
• 5+ years in graduate medical education administration or related field.
• TAGME certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs operational, accreditation, educational, and administrative activities for a large residency and fellowship programs.
• Serves as the senior departmental administrative resource regarding graduate medical education operations, accreditation, compliance, and program administration.
• Provides direct supervision, mentoring, coaching, and performance management for managers, coordinators, and administrative personnel.
• Develops departmental operational goals, performance measures, and strategic initiatives supporting program effectiveness and educational excellence.
• Oversees trainee lifecycle management including recruitment, onboarding, credentialing, licensure, immigration support, compliance, and graduation processes.
• Provides departmental oversight for ERAS, Thalamus, NRMP, onboarding, recruitment operations, and related graduate medical education technologies.
• Oversees accreditation activities including Annual Program Evaluation (APE), Program Evaluation Committee (PEC), Clinical Competency Committee (CCC), WebADS reporting, Program Letters of Agreement (PLA), accreditation readiness, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
• Collaborates with Program Directors and faculty leadership to support accreditation compliance, action plan implementation, reporting activities, and program improvement efforts.
• Oversees educational administration activities including curriculum management, evaluation systems, milestone reporting, scholarly activity tracking, educational outcomes assessment, and Residency Management System utilization.
• Utilizes RMS data, analytics, resident complement information, participating site reporting, and operational metrics to support accreditation readiness, workforce planning, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) cost reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develops and manages educational budgets, staffing plans, resource allocation strategies, and operational improvement initiatives supporting departmental goals.
• Evaluates operational, educational, accreditation, and financial outcomes and develops recommendations to improve program effectiveness and efficiency.
• Leads workforce planning, employee engagement, succession planning, staff development, and implementation of departmental best practices related to residency and fellowship administration.
• Serves as the primary administrative liaison between Program Directors, Department Leadership, institutional committees, and Graduate Medical Education leadership and represents the department on institutional initiatives and workgroups.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
