Job summary

Slalom is seeking a Director of AI Systems and Platforms to lead a portfolio of client delivery and capability responsibilities while remaining an active technical leader. You will lead and develop AI/ML engineers, architects, and data scientists; shape and sell complex work; manage capability health; and personally help teams design, build, and operate production AI systems.

This role moves across client conversations, architecture decisions, code reviews, and production troubleshooting,

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in AI, machine learning, data science, software engineering, or a closely related field.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience building and operating production services.
• 5+ years of technical leadership, people leadership, or capability management experience.
• 2+ years hands-on experience designing and delivering GenAI, LLM, RAG, or agentic AI systems.
• Strong coding ability in Python and SQL; ability to review production code.
• Deep experience with RAG and agentic architectures.
• Experience with at least two major cloud/data AI ecosystems.
• Experience leading multi-workstream consulting engagements or delivery portfolios.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex AI/ML engagements, contribute to discovery, architecture, and production issues.
• Architect, prototype, and productionize agentic AI, RAG, and intelligent workflow solutions.
• Develop and review production code using Python, SQL, PySpark, FastAPI, and Pydantic.
• Build with AI platforms such as Azure, AWS, Google Cloud and associated ecosystems.
• Define and enforce production quality standards for safety, latency, and reliability.
• Lead engagements from discovery to production launch and operational transition.
