Job summary

Slalom, a leading technology and business consultancy, seeks a Director of AI Systems and Platforms to lead client delivery and capability responsibilities while remaining an active technical leader.

You will guide AI/ML engineers, architects, and data scientists; shape complex work; manage capability health; and help teams design, build, and operate production AI systems across cloud ecosystems.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in AI, data science, software eng or related field with production systems delivery.
• 8+ years of software engineering delivering production services.
• 5+ years in technical leadership, people leadership, or capability management.
• 2+ years hands-on experience designing and delivering GenAI, LLM, RAG, or agentic AI in production.
• Strong Python and SQL coding ability; prototyping and reviewing production code.
• Deep experience with RAG, embeddings, vector/search, guardrails.
• Experience across two major cloud/data AI ecosystems; cloud-agnostic mindset.
• Experience leading multi-workstream consulting engagements or delivery portfolios.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex AI/ML engagements; contribute to discovery, solution architecture, rapid prototypes, and production issue resolution.
• Architect, prototype, build, and productionize agentic AI, RAG, predictive ML, and intelligent workflow solutions.
• Develop and review production code using Python, SQL, PySpark; apply CI/CD, testing, and secure coding practices.
• Build with AI platforms and model ecosystems (Azure ML, Bedrock/SageMaker, Vertex AI) and OpenAI/Hugging Face.
• Establish MLOps/LLMOps across CI/CD, IaC, evaluation, observability, and cost management.
• Partner with product, security, legal, risk, and change leaders to ensure responsible AI adoption.
