CVS Health is seeking a Lead Director of Software Engineering to drive architectural standards, scale a multi-team organization, and deliver AI-enabled healthcare platforms. You will own delivery velocity, set engineering excellence benchmarks, and partner with Product and Health care leaders to translate business strategy into engineering bets.

You will embed LLMs, agentic workflows, and ML-powered automation, elevating production-grade capabilities while safeguarding responsible AI practices.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience with 5+ years leading large engineering organizations.
• Deep foundation in distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and backend engineering at scale.
• Proven AI platform ownership with production AI systems and model deployment pipelines.
• Track record migrating monoliths to microservices and modernizing legacy platforms.

Responsibilities

• Set architectural standards and lead a multi-team engineering org (50–150+ engineers).
• Embed AI/ML capabilities and production-grade automation into the engineering lifecycle.
• Own delivery velocity and accountability for outcomes across teams.
• Partner with Product, Data, and Healthcare leaders to translate strategy into engineering bets.
• Advocate for sound engineering investments and manage architectural debt.
