Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Lead Director of Software Engineering to set and raise the bar for technical excellence across a large engineering organization. You will drive strategy, own delivery velocity, and partner with executives across Product, Data, and Health care to translate business goals into engineering bets.

You will embed AI-driven workflows, assess architecture debt, and lead transformation initiatives, while ensuring robust and scalable systems to support tens of thousands of users.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including 5+ years leading large-scale engineering organizations.
• Hands-on foundation in distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and backend engineering at scale.
• Proven AI platform ownership with production AI systems deployment and operation.
• Track record of migrating monoliths to microservices under business pressure.

Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy across a multi-team engineering organization (50–150+ engineers).
• Embed LLMs, generative AI, agentic workflows, and ML automation into the lifecycle.
• Own delivery velocity and accountability for outcomes, not roadmaps.
• Partner with Product, Data, and Health care leaders to translate strategy into engineering bets.
• Advocate for sound architecture and timely investments.
