Job summary

Axios is seeking a Senior Director of Engineering to lead people, systems, and practices behind reliable products across Axios platforms and workflows. You will partner with the CTO and executive teams to shape strategy, drive rapid decision-making, and elevate technical leadership across engineering managers and senior engineers.

The role emphasizes using AI to accelerate product delivery, improve testing and reliability, and align technology with business goals.

Qualifications

Led and developed engineering managers and senior technical leaders.
Experience using AI to improve how teams build, test, and operate software.
Ability to translate complex technical details for executives and nontechnical partners.

Responsibilities

Shape engineering strategy and technical direction with CTO and senior leaders.
Guide planning, delivery, quality, and reliability across Axios products and platforms.
Turn priorities into technical plans and align engineering capacity with business goals.
Mentor and retain top engineering talent while evolving a healthy team culture.
