Job summary

BD is seeking a Senior Director of Research & Development to lead the Acute Care Platform R&D within Urology & Critical Care. The role drives the development and commercialization of next-gen medical technologies, including AI/ML decision support, software-enabled solutions, and connected devices.

The leader will guide cross-functional teams, shape platform strategy, and partner with Commercial, Regulatory, Regulatory, and Manufacturing to deliver differentiated patient-focused solutions

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 12+ years of progressive R&D and new product development in medical devices (10+ years with an advanced degree).
• Experience leading complex medical device programs from concept through commercialization.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and large portfolios.
• Proven track record commercializing Class I, II, and/or III medical devices.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the Acute Care Platform R&D strategy in line with growth objectives.
• Lead end-to-end product development from concept to commercialization.
• Oversee hardware, software, systems engineering, informatics, and connected healthcare solutions.
• Ensure compliance with development processes, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration with Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and Commercial teams.
