Job summary

Covenant House New York seeks a Senior Director of Shelter to oversee its Youth Shelter in Manhattan, HYA in the Bronx, and Mother & Child Shelter in the Bronx. You will design new program models, lead staff, and ensure services meet regulatory standards while advancing youth toward housing and independence.

You will champion evidence-based practices, train staff, and collaborate with CHNY leadership to align program goals with organizational objectives and funder requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Experience in program management.
• 3+ years managing staff with proven performance management and team development.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in data analysis and program evaluation.
• Able to leverage technology and systems to optimize operations.
• Open to learning new ideas and constructive feedback.
• Humble, determined collaborator.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement new Shelter programs and policies in collaboration with CHNY leadership.
• Collaborate on new site development including layout, furnishings, security, and maintenance.
• Ensure regulatory and other requirements are met and maintained across sites.
• Provide ongoing supervision and development for program staff.
• Utilize data systems to evaluate programs and inform decisions.
• Oversee 24/7 shelter operations and staffing to meet ratios.
• Build linkages with community organizations to support programs.
