Job summary

Macdonald & Company is seeking a Director of Operations for its growing Southern California multifamily platform. The role oversees a portfolio of market-rate communities, partnering with executive leadership to drive NOI, improve operational consistency, and implement best-in-class processes across the business.

The position is based at the Southern California headquarters with regular travel across the portfolio, especially in the early months, to build relationships with on-site teams.

Qualifications

• Leads operations for a portfolio of multifamily communities.
• Experience driving NOI and operating performance across assets.
• Strong leadership and mentorship of site teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead operational performance of roughly 12 multifamily communities.
• Mentor Property Managers and site teams across leasing, maintenance, resident services, and finances.
• Drive NOI through revenue optimization, expense management, budgeting, forecasting and analysis.
• Review property financials, metrics, and variances to identify performance gains.
• Partner with Asset Management on capital projects and execution.
• Standardize SOPs and scale processes as the platform grows.
• Support recruitment, coaching, and performance management within operations.
• Collaborate with exec team on strategic initiatives, reporting, and tech implementations.
• Ensure compliance and consistency across all properties.
