Job summary

The Major Project Director at AEP will lead all project management activities for a major generation project with budgets exceeding $1 billion, requiring on-site leadership to coordinate safety, schedule, cost, and stakeholder alignment.

This role oversees EPC contractors or third-party resources, drives the integrated schedule, and manages the program budget, risk, and change management while engaging regulators, utilities, and project partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, Business, Project Management, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 10 years of qualified experience across major construction projects, project management, portfolio management, commissioning, project controls, and related areas.
• PMP certification required.
• Valid state driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Own overall project execution including directing, guiding, and overseeing project management functions.
• Implement and oversee project safety program and strive for Zero Harm.
• Report on project strategy and team needs to Generation Executive leadership.
• Establish project commercial contracting strategy and negotiate project contractor, EPC, and engineering agreements.
• Drive integrated schedule across all workstreams and align with resource management.
• Maintain oversight of program budget and contingency.
• Identify and manage executive risk register and mitigate exposure.
• Lead project change management and resolve disputes to avoid escalation.
• Build and mentor a cohesive project leadership team.
• Manage stakeholder relationships with utilities, regulators, landowners, and contractors.
