JPMorganChase is seeking a Sr Director of Software Engineering for Lending Technology in New York. This role leads senior engineers to modernize commercial lending platforms, sets engineering standards for reliability and security, and partners with bankers and product teams to deliver measurable business outcomes.

The candidate will drive adoption of agentic AI-enabled development, manage budgets, and cultivate high-performing teams across departments, ensuring scalable, cost-efficient delivery

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience
• In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage complex technical items
• Experience leading leaders (managers of managers) and senior technical staff

Responsibilities

• Set and uphold engineering standards across architecture, reliability, security, and delivery for commercial lending modernization
• Partner with bankers, product, and operations to translate business needs into clear roadmaps and measurable outcomes
• Drive operational excellence through automation, observability, resiliency patterns, and disciplined incident management
• Lead design reviews and critical-path technical decisions; mentor senior engineers and engineering leaders
• Establish data-driven metrics and governance for AI-enabled engineering and SDLC/TLM automation across departments
• Make disciplined build, buy, and reuse decisions based on value, risk, and TCO
• Own budget planning, forecasting, and expense management; optimize spend and staffing
• Build and retain high-performing teams through structured hiring and career development
